About DSROI

The DSROI is a seven-week online course that delves into the theory and practice at the intersection of disability, gender, and sexuality, emphasizing perspectives from the global South. Since its inception in 2010, the Institute has been predominantly led by activists, community organizers, and academics with disabilities. It fosters cross-movement cooperation, particularly at the intersection of disability rights and justice, feminism, and sexual and gender diversity. Participants enhance their ability to work inclusively and holistically towards human rights and social justice. The course is delivered through an accessible online learning platform.

About Radical Action

Over the years, each module developed for the DSROI Institute has included a ‘Radical Action’ section. This section highlights the work of disability rights and justice activists and includes questions that encourage DSROI participants to reflect on and discuss the content with each other and with faculty. Each video is curated to unpack and deepen our understanding regarding disability, gender and sexuality angles.

Recognizing the importance of the Radical Action videos created so far and the need to archive the conversations happening at the intersection of feminist and disability rights struggles, the DSROI team has compiled these videos into an archival repository. This repository allows DSROI participants to engage with Radical Action videos from past DSROI editions. Using the filter tools on the page, participants can also use the archive as a directory to locate videos on specific years, regions, or themes such as deinstitutionalization, reproductive justice and disability, cross-movement solidarity, etc..
