The concluding session of the Deafway event at DSROI 2015, celebrating the achievements of the deaf community in India. The discussion highlights key outcomes, advocacy efforts, and future directions for strengthening deaf culture and accessibility.
The Deaf Way Foundation has been working with deaf people for 14 years and discovered stories of abuse among deaf women. They created the Swabhimaan project to provide counseling and workshops on personal rights and health to deaf women and minors. The foundation trained deaf women staff to conduct the workshops, with the help of an expert. The initial workshops were well-received and helped participants feel more empowered. The foundation now aims to conduct more workshops across India and collaborate with schools and vocational programs. (extracted from https://www.slideshare.net/slideshow/swab-ppt-crea/32713548)
